Google's new Smart Speaker is also a Wi-Fi Router ! 

So these cute candle jar looking plastic things that are on your screen, these are Goggle's new Wi-Fi routers. Actually they're also Google's new smart home speakers. You see, Google went and did the apparent thing, the thing that we've all been posing for . They took a Google Home and that they put it inside a WiFi router. or even they took a WiFi router and put it inside a Google Home? i do not know, it doesn't matter.

This is the Google Nest WiFi. So Google's whole argument with the Nest WiFi is that WiFi access points work way better when they're call at the open rather than buried in your closet somewhere or maybe attached to a wall plug within the corner. in order that they want you to place it on your counter or your table, and to convince you to try to to that, they put a sensible speaker in it in order that you'd actually put it call at the open and ask it.

So let's mention this thing as a sensible speaker first. It's actually quite neat. it's this new lighting system where once you ask it, it puts a hoop of sunshine underneath it which ring of sunshine turns orange when it mutes which is super annoying but you'll turn that off within the settings which by the way are inside the Google Home app now and that is terrible because the Google Home app is terrible but we'll all survive this problem together.

It also does this neat thing where when your hand gets on the brink of it, it uses ultrasound to detect it which lights up a few of lights on the highest in order that you recognize where to tap for volume up and volume down. Okay, but how does it sound as a speaker? Well, it seems like a reasonably good Google Home Mini because it's literally a reasonably good Google Home Mini. it is a slightly upgraded Google Home Mini speaker only during this thing, it's firing downward and since it is a bit bigger, it's got more air to figure with so it can sound just a touch bit better. Oh hey, speaking of Mini's, there is a new one. it isn't the Google Mini now.

Now it is the Nest Mini and it's a couple of new things in it. it's precisely the same because the last one although there's a replacement blue color but the new stuff is, it sounds slightly better because that's slightly better speaker and Google also says it did an entire bunch of like machine learning and tuning and stuff just to form it sound better. It also does local control surely things so you'll turn your lights on and off without having to ask a server the way to do this .

So that's neat. And it also has this new ultrasound feature from the Nest WiFi where once you reach for it, it'll illuminate and tell you where the buttons are 'cause you'll tap it to play pause otherwise you can turn the quantity up or shorten the quantity down right the Nest Mini itself. It's still gonna cost50 bucks but I bet you there will be discounts on the thing all the time. Oh, another thing. It does have a hole on the rear in order that it's easier to hold on the wall i assume if you would like . All right, back to the Nest WiFi.

How is it as a router? Well we do not know the complete specs yet but it does support AC2200 so it should be a touch bit better there. Google says that it's twice as fast but what exactly meaning remains to be seen. It supports Thread 'cause they're still trying to form that thing happen and that they also say that it's 25% coverage than the old Google WiFi which remains sticking around by the way.

Google's main package may be a two pack which is one router which does not have an assistant in it then the small point that does, and that is gonna sell for $269. there is a whole bunch of various price points for purchasing one among them individually if you would like to and that they are backwards compatible with the Google WiFi if you would like to create out from there. Also, they're making a pack that's just two routers that they are selling on Amazon because Amazon won't sell the purpose because the purpose has the Google Assistant inbuilt and Amazon don't want to sell anything that competes with the Alexa because of capitalism.

So look, I'm really happy that Google just finally went and did the apparent thing. It took a sensible speaker and a mesh router and that they crammed them together. But we still got to test it and see how it actually performs especially since Eero just announced a replacement router at an Amazon event few "> a few couple of weeks ago because well this is often a very good idea, the foremost important thing is that it provides good WiFi.
